Gone With the Wind

Copyright 2016 - Checker Car Club of America, Inc.

Every so often, I drive past the remains of the old Checker plant here in Kalamazoo. Over the last seven years it has been in various stages of demolition, but now, there is very little that remains. All of the buildings are gone, the debris has been removed, the press pits and all other holes have been filled in. It is 100 flat acres of asphalt, cement, and gravel. The old test track is reverting back to nature with trees, scrub and wildlife. Along with the question of what this property will someday become, it carries the proud heritage of what it once was.
